Conventions – Raise national profile
Vice Chairman ICPB (India Convention Promotion Bureau) Mr. Chander Mansharamani, in his opening remarks made an extremely powerful and meatier statement that bringing Conventions into a country not only raises the profile of the national industry but also makes a long-term impact on elevating benchmarks of performance in that industry. Yet another impactful statement came when he shared that bidding for an international conference is an Exciting and Challenging task. Bringing an international congress to your country can be a crowning achievement of a professional career.
MICE is a service-based industry where continuous soft skill up-gradation is critical for success and WOW factor. This time about 40 delegates participated in the workshop. It is being proposed that more of such educational sessions be held for benefit of the industry.
Joint Secretary Tourism and Chairman ICPB, Sh Suman Billa stressed upon the importance of Conventions for their turnaround role in the economy, employment generation and the multiplier effect events of such scale bring along, apart from boosting the image of the country.
The training faculty had experts from ICCA and the Indian MICE – Conventions Industry as well – Mr. Noor Ahmad Hamid, Regional Director Asia Pacific, ICCA, Mr. Jason Yeh, Board of Directors, ICCA GIS Group, Taipei to name a few.
The program sessions included – Understanding the Association Market, Selling to the association market and the Role of a PCO in bidding; Actual Case studies and group assignments were held for participating teams.
