Bangkok – the Chosen One
Bangkok, for its diversity, cultural ethnicity, food, hospitality, accessibility and burgeoning metropolis, has time and again been chosen for high-end Association meetings by global leaders in the meetings industry, like PCMA, UIA, ICCA and more.
PCMA (US-based Professional Convention Management Association) will host its 2017 Global Professionals Conference in the city of Bangkok for the first time ever in Asia. The prestigious 100-year old UIA (for the second time) will organize its Associations Round Table Asia- Pacific 2017 in Chiang Mai this year. The focus for UIA will be on education and skills required to manage associations.
Further, ICCA and TCEB share a close cooperation and work hand-in-hand for development of Thailand as a MICE destinantion. TCEB will host the 5th high-powered ICCA Thailand Seminar, 5 July in Bangkok. The annual event will sharpen the bidding techniques of Thai associations and suppliers.
Martin Sirk, CEO of ICCA said: “To achieve success in today’s international meetings market it is no longer enough to have great infrastructure, easy accessibility and tourism appeal. Associations and companies are looking for true partners who can help them achieve their meetings’ business objectives. I therefore applaud the innovative work that TCEB and our other Thai ICCA members are doing in the field of skills and capacity development, and how they are facilitating and encouraging the growth of a dynamic association community in Thailand.”
These high-level delegation meetings with key representatives from around the world will raise the image of the destination and will help Thailand showcase the best the destination has to offer. Over the years that Thailand has been marketing, supporting and promoting initiatives like these, that more than 300 meetings and exhibitions, mostly international events, are already lined-up for the second half of this year.
TCEB President, Chiruit Isarangkun Na Ayuthaya said: “Global associations show their confidence by selecting Thailand for their meeting is of significance. It is in line with the rank of Thailand that jumped from 27th to 24th on world association meetings destination while Bangkok’s ranking also climbed from 16th last year to 12th this year.”
It is a matter of great pride for Thailand that a positive, consistent and aggressive marketing plan is delivering visible results. The beauty and diversity of Thailand is undisputed.
