Europe – Thai Strong Connect
The Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau or TCEB unveiled a series of strategic marketing initiatives to attract business events travelers from Europe. Thailand has had a consistent record of inbound travelers and especially MICE/Business travelers from long-haul markets of Europe, with Germany, France and UK leading the pack. The destination aims to draw more of them.
Ms Vichaya Soonthornsaratoon, TCEB’s Director of Convention, during her visit to IMEX Frankfurt this May 2017 said, “TCEB is delighted once again to be here at IMEX Frankfurt. Europe continues to be an important growing market that contributes to the extraordinary success of Thailand’s business events industry. During fiscal year 2016, Thailand welcomed 106,501 business events visitors from Europe with earnings reaching 251 million euros. Globally, Thailand’s business events sector enjoyed an impressive performance, welcoming 1,273,465 business events travelers, that generated 102,936 million baht in revenue (3.85 million euros).
Thailand is one of the best hosts, when it comes to delivery of a world-class MICE events. And TCEB ensures smooth cooperation between government and private sectors. And together, they team up to make Thailand a premier business events destination in the international arena. This is evident from the fact that a 100-year old Union of International Associations (UIA) has chosen Chiang Mai in Thailand for its prestigious Round Table Asia Pacific 2017 conference between 21-22 September 2017. The UIA held its previous meet in Thailand, just a year before in 2015 in Bangkok, clearly endorsing its confidence again in the emerging global convention hub for the industry. Over 100 representatives from international professional associations and MICE suppliers will meet and experience the culture, beauty in the positive business environment of Chiang Mai, Thailand’s second largest city, during the global round table.
